I accidentally booked my hotel room for a Thursday night but needed to stay Friday night. When I arrived at the property on Friday night it was completely sold out and it turned out that I had already paid for the night prior even though I hadn’t stayed there. I was absolutely anxiety filled Worried I would not be able to get my money back and I knew the hotel was completely booked due to a gymnastics tournament. The person at Reception said give me a minute and a manager came out, was very kind and said they just had a cancellation and she would apply Thursday night fee that I already paid to the Friday night room. They could have been complete jerks because it was my mistake, I could’ve been out the money and out of a place to sleep. I was very grateful for the kindness

My wife and I recently spent three nights at the Best Western Plus Steeplegate Inn in Davenport, Iowa during our vacation in the Quad Cities.
We picked the Best Western Plus Steeplegate Inn in Davenport because it had good rates and was rated three stars or above. Despite some ongoing renovations, we were happy with our stay. Compared to similar hotels, it was much cheaper and offered decent value for money.
We gave the hotel a five-star rating because we had a good experience overall. However, please note that we would classify it as a three-star hotel. The hotel has areas where it could improve, but we felt satisfied with our stay, especially considering the room cost us only $263.
Our room had a very comfortable king-sized bed with plenty of pillows. It also had a microwave, mini-fridge, and a comfortable leather chair with an oversized ottoman. The mini-Keurig coffee station was a nice touch, and we appreciated the large shower dispenser for body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion. The closet was spacious, and the desk was well-equipped with handy plugs. We would have preferred carpet instead of wood laminate flooring, but that’s just our personal preference.
The lobby was clean and impressive, with an ATM, mini-store, and a large coffee station. The hotel also had a well-equipped fitness room and a beautiful, fully enclosed courtyard. The indoor atrium was enormous, and the swimming pool was small but comfortable. Unfortunately, the jacuzzi was boarded over during our visit and was unusable.
The hotel’s bar, 1 Hundred West, was fantastic. It had live music, great food, and amazing drinks. The bartenders, Matt and Anthony, were delightful and made our visit even better. The bar was immaculately clean and had a modern, sleek look.
The person who checked us in was extremely pleasant and attentive. We didn't use room service, but it was available, along with wake-up calls, free Wi-Fi, and free amenities.
I purchased a river view room. I arrived about 3 p.m.
I purchased a river view room. I arrived about 3 p.m. Both parking lots were close to empty.
As I checked in, I was assigned a standard room. I was told all the river view rooms were reserved for guest who MIGHT arrive later in the day. After listening to the poor excuses for 20 minutes, as to why I could not have any of the clearly empty rooms, I was assigned to the last room, at the back of the hotel. It had a parking lot/dumpster view. The ice machine was at the opposite end of the hotel.
While waiting for them to assign the room, a couple came back to the front desk complaining of their room assignment. We all realized really quick that they had the room I had purchased. They didn’t want the (2) Queen beds. That’s what I purchased. Even after moving the couple to a King room, they still insisted, no rooms were available.
I left the hotel at 3:30 a.m. and as expected, the parking lots were full.
I felt discriminated against and would not suggest spending a penny with them.

A great place to stay when visiting relatives in the Quad...
A great place to stay when visiting relatives in the Quad Cities! We missed the wonderful large grocery store that used to be by the Comfort Inn. We went to a small grocery in Le Claire that was nice, but we went all the way back to Silvis to find a large grocery store that offered more choices like gluten free items. We will be back.

I was happy to see alot of folks wearing masks!
I was happy to see alot of folks wearing masks! However I wish there were a limit in all the shops of the amount of people. I work in healthcare and am extremely conscientious of being careful so as not to take covid home or to the workplace, around our elderly. It made my husband and I both uncomfortable when our personal space felt invaded by the shops being so full. I know that is how they make their living... At the corner market a man behind my husband coughed very loudly and rambunctiously and was wearing no mask. I walked out of the store, and proceeded to wait outside for my husband to finish his transaction.
We ordered and picked up great food at the Beirtube restaraunt just up from our motel. It was great food! Stopped at the Razz shop. The emporium shop was not open and another had an open sign lit but the door was locked. All in all we enjoyed just getting away for an overnighter to celebrate my husbands birthday. Of course we had to stop at the American Pickers stores but they were so busy and so many people so did not stay long.

Seeing the Pickers Store.
Seeing the Pickers Store. Disappointed Danielle, Frank nor Mike where their. Downtown. Antique Shops. Very clean town. I would suggest, the police are thick and they seem to like giving tickets to get the out of towner's money. Drive the speed limit. No, I didn't get a ticket.
The location was easy to find off I-80, right on the Mississippi river. It is a 5 minute drive along the river to downtown Le Claire. The breakfast was fine. My wife liked the pancakes from the auto-pancake-maker. The selection of currants/raisins, pecans, and brown sugar were welcome additions to the oatmeal. Excellent coffee. Clean and comfortable rooms with sufficient charging receptacles for your devices. Excellent treadmills and exercise equipment. Friendly and helpful staff.
The hotel was conveniently located. It was very clean and the staff very attentive and welcoming. The bed comfortable, the shower perfect and the Wi-Fi strong. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise as lots of places still don’t offer one. We recommend highly! We were in a pet friendly room and it was clean and had no animal smell. The pet fee, at $10, is more than fair.
Things we loved: Location - We have relatives across the river in Hampton, the breakfast of scrambled eggs, the pool with water that isn't cold, availability of bottled water and ice, the mini frig and microwave, a great shower, and parking nearby!
Hotels are getting so expensive these days. This one was clean and super nice people. They worked very hard to make your stay feel safe. Breakfast was good also. Love that feature when you pay over $200 to stay somewhere.
First hotel to have a big comfortable recliner
Made me feel at home and not a standard motel room.
Was clean, great breakfast included and best value for my money.
